Sylvester Dowiasch, 87, of Black River Falls and formerly of Coon Valley died Sunday June 21, 2020 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. He was born June 2, 1933 to William and Verna (Bahr) Dowiasch. On October 8, 1955 he married LeIlah Kerska at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Coon Valley. The couple farmed their married life near Coon Valley. Sylvester also drove milk truck for 14 years in Coon Valley and Viroqua. They have resided in Black River Falls since 1990. Sylvester loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, working in his garden and lawn, feeding the squirrels and birds and riding his motorcycle and trike.
Survivors include his wife LeIlah; 5 children, Ken (Rosie) of Foster, Deb (Earl) Heinisch of Hudson, David of Coon Valley, Arlan (Jean) of Coon Valley and Mari (Rodney) Larson of Westby; daughter-in-law, Christine Dowiasch; 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 children, Geri and Rob; brother Joseph and niece Sharon Brink.
A visitation for the public will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday June 24, 2020 at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Coon Valley with burial in the church cemetery. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
