Richard R. Stellner

Richard R. Stellner, 93 of West Salem formerly of LaFarge. Passed away January 26th 2023 at Lakeview Healthcare Center in West Salem, where he had been a resident for the past nine years. Richard was born October 9, 1929 at home in Spring Coulee, Genoa, to William and Clara Hoover Stellner. He attended Riverside School in rural Genoa. Richard served in the army and was stationed in Japan. In 1951 he married Delores Goede, they had five children and farmed on Chaseburg Ridge for many years. After they divorced, Richard moved to Kenosha and worked for Eaton Corp. Later in life he bought a hobby farm with his best friend Bette Morton in La Farge and there he had his many animals and cats that he adored. He did logging with his two sons for many years, he loved being in the woods.

Richard is survived by his children, David (Diane) Stellner, Diane Spensley (Rick Hanson), Cathy (Alan) Sagler, Lisa (Scott) Nimmo; daughter in law, Cindy Stellner; grandchildren: Dawn, Daniel, Bobbie Jean Stellner, Shannon, Shawn, Nate, Ryan Stellner, Cody, Cordell, Morgan Sagler, Jeremy, Katie Simonson; 9 great grandchildren; best friend Bette Morton; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and seven sisters, Mabel Wiverstad, Loren Brosinski, Myrtle Wang, Joyce Stellner, Maxine Dayton, Elaine Brosinski, Delores Knight; son, Duane Stellner, son-in-law, Roger Spensley; granddaughter, Sara Stellner.

A visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday February 2, 2023 at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Burial will be in the Stoddard Cemetery. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lake View for their many years of care provided for Richard. He made many friends there over the years. You truly treated him like family. I know his community will miss him.
