Ralph H. Williams
February 21, 1932 ~ June 29, 2023 (age 91) 91 Years Old
Ralph H. Williams, 91 of Viroqua and formerly of La Crosse, died Thursday June 29, 2023 at Bethel Oaks in Viroqua.
He was born on February 21, 1932 to Halmer and Ellen (Nelson) Williams in Vernon County Wisconsin. He grew up on a farm near Chaseburg and graduated from Viroqua High School in 1950. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and served in Japan during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Washington State. He settled in Port Townsend, Washington where he married Patricia Harney on June 9, 1956. They were married until her death in 2008. During his 50-plus years in Port Townsend, he worked as an electrician and volunteer firefighter, and was active in Grace Lutheran Church, Habitat for Humanity, and the Lions Club. He also served multiple terms on the local school board. He moved to La Crosse in 2012, where he volunteered at Gundersen Hospital and a local Veterans Administration clinic. After his health declined, he moved to a memory care facility in Viroqua, where he died from dementia and heart failure. Ralph is survived by his daughter Colleen, sister Kay, sister-in-law Darlene, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, daughter Molly, his parents, his brothers Wes and Harlan, and his sister Rena Theige.
A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday July 6, 2023 at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley with a visitation from 4 p.m. until service time. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com
