Janice E. Neuverth

Janice Elaine Neuverth, 84 of Sparta and formerly of Genoa and LaCrosse, died Monday March 18, 2024 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. She was born February 21, 1940 to Henry and Doris (Rick) Hass in Genoa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Bad Axe Lutheran Church, rural Genoa.  She attended Baker School in Newton and graduated from Viroqua High School in 1958.She then graduated from a Madison nursing school as a practical nurse. Janice was married to Donald Neuverth in 1963. He died three years later. She made her home in La Crosse and held various nursing jobs. In her later years, she did home care nursing.

For the last 10 ½ years she has lived at Rolling Hills in Sparta. Her two favorite nurses were April and Penny and social worker, Christine. She loved the activities fishing, shopping and listening to music groups.

She is survived by her sister, Lois Huber of West Salem and three favorite friends, Sharon, Wayne and Elsie of Houston, Minnesota and numerous nieces and nephews.

We thank her pastors at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Onalaska for sharing God’s word with her. This included her confirmation verse Psalm 46:1 - God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday April 13, 2024 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Onalaska. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time. Private burial will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Genoa. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
