David L. Pieper

David L. Pieper, 61, of Stoddard, died Saturday October 13, 2018 at the Bland Bekkedal Center for Hospice in Viroqua.  He was born July 15, 1957 to Edgar and Evelyn (Zietlow) Pieper in Green Bay. He was confirmed at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Watertown.  David graduated in 1975 from Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills.  He married Kimberly Galstad in La Crosse on March 15, 1986.

David farmed in the Chaseburg area for over 20 years and then the past 25 years he has worked for Mathy Construction in Sparta.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting – especially bow hunting.  He and Kim went fishing every weekend on the Mississippi.  David loved spending time with his family.  He will also be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife, Kim; daughter, Jessica (Darin Geier) all of Stoddard; one brother, John (Peg) of Chaseburg and one sister, Carol Pieper of Milwaukee; his mother-in-law Shirley Galstad of Sparta; sisters-in-law Laurie Lightfoot of Sparta and  Kelly (Ben) Engelbrecht of Green Bay and a brother-in-law Todd Galstad of Sparta and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law Gene Galstad and his brother-in-law Tom Lightfoot.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday October 18, 2018 at St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stoddard.  A visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time.  The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
