Carliss D. Larson
March 25, 1937 ~ July 16, 2023 (age 86) 86 Years Old
Carliss Dean Larson, 86, of Coon Valley died unexpectedly Sunday, July 16, 2023, surrounded by family at Gundersen Health System. He was born March 25, 1937, to Sherman and Olga (Rude) Larson in La Crosse County. He graduated from Westby High School in 1955. Carliss was united in marriage to Karen (Beier) Larson on November 16, 1963, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in La Crosse.
Carliss served in the Korean Conflict. He worked at American Motors Corp. in Kenosha, Wisconsin as an electrician. Carliss dairy farmed the Larson Home Farm before taking over the Blihovde Farm in 1982. He also planted trees every spring for the Vernon County Forestry Department for over 30 years.
Carliss enjoyed spending time with his family at the cabin, fishing in Canada, hunting, farming, snowmobiling, watching old westerns, listening to polka music, and spending time with friends.
Survivors include his 4 children Kristine (Marvin) Amundson of Westby, Katherine (Ralph Jr.) Schedivy of Chaseburg, Eric (Michelle) Larson of Holmen and Karla (Ron) Collins of Coon Valley; 8 grandchildren Alyssa (Justin) Trad and Kyle (Courtney) Amundson, Kelse Larson and Dena Schedivy, Merissa (Dylan) Hale and Dexter Larson and Jake and Emily Collins; and one great-grandson Drystin. 1 brother, Jon Larson, 1 brother-in-law Dale Beier, 3 sisters-in-law Gretchen (Dan) Montgomery, Theresa Zimmermann, Elva Beier and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his wife Karen in June of 2011, his parents, and daughter Deanna in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday July 19, 2023 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Meg Eiben Hoversten will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
