Burton C. Lee

Burton C. Lee passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 21, 1930 to Adolph and Thea (Moilien) Lee in Coon Valley, Wisconsin.

Burt graduated from Westby High School and went on to complete the Farmer’s Short Course. He then studied at UW Madison and UW Platteville graduating with a degree in Biology. In 1964, Burton received his Master’s Degree in Biology from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

Burton married Janice (Stylen) on August 28, 1954. They had three children; James (Jim), Toby, and Jody.

Burton was predeceased by his parents; his siblings, Selmer, Marian, and Robert; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Herdis Lee, Barouyr Hairabedian, Ardelle & Ray Umberger, Polly & Woodie Tollerud, Elsie & Bob Nelson, and Jim & Rachel Stylen. He was also predeceased by his wife, Janice, and his son, Jim.

Burton is survived by his daughter in law, Karen Lee, his son, Toby (Joan Greendeer-Lee) Lee, his daughter, Jody (Greg Lampe) Lee-Lampe, his grandchildren, Robin (Danielle) Lee, Thea (Zach) Trebelhorn, Jessie (Garrett Jones) Lee-Jones, Tessa (Andy) Martin, Josie (Brandon Winneshiek) Lee and John (Karen Dohr) Lee. He is further survived by eight great grandchildren, Phoebe & Levon Jones, Penelope & Marian Winneshiek, William & Charlie Martin, and Madison & Harper Trebelhorn.

Burt was an avid outdoorsman and environmentalist, enjoying many years of hunting, fishing, and tree planting. Family and friends were important to him, and he could talk at length to any and all who called or stopped by to see him. He was always ready to offer coffee, cookies and conversation. Burt and his stories will be missed by many.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday November 27, 2021 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Julie Wollman will officiate. Refreshments will be served in the church fellowship hall following the service. All are welcome. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.  Memorials may be given to the Coon Valley Lutheran Church or to a cause or charity of your choice.
