Sherman E. Olson

Sherman E. Olson, 93 of Bangor and formerly of Coon Valley died Wednesday October 15, 2025, at Hillview Health Care in La Crosse with his family by his side. He was born June 7, 1932, to Angus and Florence (Johnson) Olson. He married Lou Jane Larson on September 4, 1954. They had five children, Linda (Gary) Keuser, Pam (Joe) Williams, Lauri (Jeff) Schultz, Vicky (John) Schreiner and Ricky Olson. Sherman joined the Air Force in 1952, gaining the rank of Sargeant, and proudly served in the Korean War. He returned to Lackland Air Force Base. After his discharge they settled in Coon Valley, and he became a life-long barber. He had many customers who became life-long friends. He also drove semi for several years during that time and volunteered on the Coon Valley Fire Department for 20 years. On July 8, 2006, he married Lois Koltermann in Bangor.

Sherman is survived by his wife, Lois; his children; 33 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Lorna Wolfe, Susan (Tuan) Bute, Lisa Koltermann, James and Carl Koltermann and one sister-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lou Jane, his parents, his sister, Ardyce Johnson, his brothers, Vernon, Curt, Art and baby brother, Floyd Dennis, a stepson Lee Koltermann, 3 brothers-in-law and 4 sisters-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred, especially to the Coon Valley American Legion Post #116 and the Coon Creek Fire Department.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday October 24, 2025, at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Bangor. A visitation will be held at the church from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday and on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial with military honors will be in the Coon Valley Lutheran Cemetery.
