Sheldon A. Olson

Sheldon A. Olson, 88, of rural Viroqua, died Wednesday May 11, 2011 at Vernon Manor Nursing Home in Viroqua. He was born July 30, 1922 to Alfred and Zelma (Eskestrand) Olson in Crawford, County. He was born again in October of 1959. Sheldon graduated from Seneca High School in 1941. He married Bernelle Gardner on October 19, 1946 at Northwest Prairie Lutheran Church. The couple farmed their married life in the Town of Sterling, rural Viroqua. Sheldon was a member of the Gideons, CBMC (Christian Business Men's Committee) and Bad Axe Lutheran Church. He enjoyed traveling, reading, watching baseball and basketball and listening to gospel music.

Survivors include his wife Bernelle; 3 children Sandra (Bradley) Stoldt of Waconia, Minnesota, Steve (Barb) Olson of rural Viroqua and Sara (Dan) Beyer of Hickory, N.C.; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; his brother Harland Olson of Viroqua and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Stuart in infancy and his sister-in-law Myrtle Olson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday May 14, 2011 from Bad Axe Lutheran Church at Purdy, rural Viroqua. Rev. Don Greven will officiate with burial in Southwest Prairie Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the charity or mission of choice.
