Rose M. Armgard

Rose M. Armgard, 84, of Genoa, died Tuesday June 14, 2011 at her home. She was born August 6, 1926 to Nicholas and Anna (Skirmontus) Gentile in Westmont, Illinois. Rose married Clifford Armgard on August 24, 1946 in Lyons, Illinois. The couple lived in the suburbs of Chicago until moving to Genoa in 1993. They were charter members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Downers Grove, Illinois where she was active in the choir. Rose and Clifford are members of St. Peter's Hamburg Lutheran Church, rural Chaseburg. They were also active in AAL (Aid Association for Lutherans) for many years. Rose enjoyed sewing, cooking, reading, flower gardening and most of all being a grandma and great grandma.

Survivors include her husband Clifford, 3 children Criss Armgard of Genoa, William (Pat) Armgard of Alpharetta, Georgia and Carolyn (Matt) DuMond of Richland Center; 7 grandchildren Chad (Andrea) Gilles, Carolyn (Duane) Connell, Michelle (Boomer) Degner, Sarah (Bill) Middleton, Alison (Jesse) Kirkland, Zac Armgard and Josh (Holly) DuMond; 14 great grandchildren Jona, Kaden, Cameron, Sophia, Jake, Mackenzie, Drew, Adelyn, Sawyer, Gunner, Campbell, Madison, Alexis and Tyler; 2 brothers Salvatore (Nancy) Gentile of Escondido, Calif. and James Gentile of Princeton, Illinois; a sister Violet Wander of Princeton, Illinois and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers Joseph and Nick and one sister Louise.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday June 18, 2011 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Rev. Steven Oldre will officiate with burial in the Hamburg Lutheran Church cemetery, rural Chaseburg. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg and also at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Peter's Hamburg Lutheran Church or Gundersen Lutheran At Home Hospice - 1900 South Ave. IRC-002, La Crosse, WI 54601.
