Rolf G. Dauve

Rolf G. Dauve, 65, of La Crosse, died Thursday February 25, 2010 at his home. He was born July 10, 1944 to Alf and Clara (Tomten) Dauve in La Crosse. Rolf was baptized and confirmed at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. He grew up on a rural Westby farm and graduated from Westby High School in 1962. Rolf was a career U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War aboard the aircraft carriers USS Saratoga and USS Enterprise. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a custodian for the Chaska Middle School in Chaska, Minnesota for 10 years. He moved to La Crosse in June of 2009. Rolf enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid sports fan especially of the Green Bay Packers.

Survivors include his daughter Amanda Dauve (Evan Ooghe) and a granddaughter Ellowyn Ooghe all of Grants Pass, Oregon; his sister Catherine (Doug) Mikshowsky of LaCrosse and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers Trygve and Arlen.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday March 1, 2010 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Coon Valley American Legion Post # 116. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10 am until services. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Memorials may be given to the Coon Valley Lutheran Church.
