Robert W. Daffinrud

Robert "Bob" W. Daffinrud, 78, of Coon Valley died suddenly at his home early Saturday morning May 14, 2011. He was born April 13, 1933 to Herman and Palma (Slette) Daffinrud in La Crosse. Robert was baptized and confirmed at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. He graduated from Westby High School in 1951. On June 23, 1956 he married Ardell Cornell at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church by Rev. Harold Mastad. Robert worked at Trane Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1994. He was a lifelong member of the Coon Valley Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council and several other committees. Robert loved the outdoors, helping his neighbors and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife Ardell; a daughter Christine (Bruce) Fruechte of Eau Claire; a son Cameron of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 5 grandchildren Laura Dones of Westby, Bruce Elliot Fruechte of Eau Claire, Gabrielle Fruechte of Rhinelander, Kaitlinn Fruechte of Eau Claire and Alisse Joy Daffinrud of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 3 great grandchildren Andrew, Robert and Mia; a brother Carl of Coon Valley and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a granddaughter Claire in 1991.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 17, 2011 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to the Coon Valley Lutheran Church.
