Richard A. Trussoni

Richard A. Trussoni, 74, of Chaseburg, died Thursday January 26, 2017 at Gundersen Health System in LaCrosse from cardiac, pulmonary and renal complications. He was born January 1, 1943 at St. Ann's Hospital in La Crosse to David and Beatrice (Arttus) Trussoni. Richard was baptized at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse and received first communion and confirmation at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa. He attended Riverside Grade School and Aquinas High School. Richard served in the U.S. Navy from 1962 to 1969. He completed 3 tours in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star with a V for saving the life of his commanding officer. Richard married Kathleen Hoff on July 31, 1971 at St. Charles Catholic Church. He worked in construction as a mason, served as a U.S. Navy recruiter and then worked with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers on the Dredge Thompson and the Lock and Dam 8 at Genoa. He was a member of the Genoa American Legion Post #246 and the Swiftboats Association.

He was a brave, kind, generous, and loving man. He will be missed greatly.

Survivors include his wife Kathleen; daughter Tammy (Bart Hill) Trussoni Hill; grandchildren Dalton, Ruger, Sawyer and Darien Hammes, Teagan and Giovanna Hill; brothers John (Patricia), Albert (Marilyn) and Robert (Joleen) Trussoni; sisters Cecelia (Stanley) Berg, Beverly (John) Szymanski and Mary (Dean) Smerud; an uncle Jim (Phyllis) Trussoni; aunts Sister Drusilla Trussoni and Alberta Trussoni; a brother-in-law Curtis Hoff; sisters-in-law Debra Trussoni, Marcia Trussoni and Rena DeFlorian and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Eugene (Kay), Daniel, Patrick and Bernard Trussoni and a sister Geraldine Kacena.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday January 31, 2017 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa. Rev. Arul Doss and Rev. Delbert Malin will concelebrate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to St. Charles School or the Freedom Honor Flight. Online condolences may be offered at selandsfuneralhome.com.
