Rena V. Theige

Rena V. Theige, 89, of rural Westby, ever the loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went to her eternal rest Sunday December 17, 2017 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. She was born July 14, 1928 to Hjamler and Ellen (Nelson) Williams. She graduated from Viroqua High School in 1946 and attended school in Minneapolis where she graduated as a medical lab technician. Rena married Arthur Theige on February 25, 1950 in Iowa. She was a proactive conservationist and farmed with her husband on South Ridge, rural Westby. She was a long time member of Vang Lutheran Church and WELCA. Rena enjoyed the Packers, family gatherings and traveling with friends.

Survivors include 2 sons, Monte of Boyd and Barry of La Crosse; 2 daughters, Lynne (Marty) Stenslien of Westby and Nancy Forde of Augusta; grandchildren, Ryan (Michele), Rory (Morgan) Stenslien, Shanna (Matt) Hurd, Emily (Jason) Held, Ellen, Eric and Aaron Forde; great grandchildren, Connor and Carver Stenslien, Molly, Rhett and Reagan Stenslien, Jake Hurd, Harrison and Abby Held; uncle Reuben Johnson, sister Kay Meyers; brother Ralph Williams; sisters-in-law Doris and Darlene Williams; special family friends Steve, Joanne and Phillip Humfeld and many nieces and nephews.

She will be reunited with her loving husband, Art and children Cathy and Bruce; her parents, brothers Harlan and Wes Williams; brothers-in-law Bob (Jean) Marck and Bob Meyers; sister-in-law Pat Williams and nieces Molly Williams and Rose Marck.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday December 20, 2017 at the Vang Lutheran Church, rural Westby. Revs. Julie and Dan Wollman will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Vang Lutheran Church, La Crosse Special Olympics or the charity of choice. Online condolences may be offered at selandsfuneralhome.com.
