Pauline (Allness) Moilien, 94, of Coon Valley, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Vernon Manor in Viroqua, with her family by her side.

Pauline was born in La Crosse on July 21, 1931, to Alfred and Meville (Fortney) Allness. She was baptized and confirmed at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Pauline attended Liberty Pole Grade School and Viroqua High School (Class of 1949). Pauline graduated from Vocational School and then worked at Soderberg Optical in La Crosse for many years.

Pauline met Howard Moilien when he came to visit his cousins, who were Pauline’s roommates. Howard and Pauline were married on July 20, 1963 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Viroqua. Howard and Pauline were dairy farmers on the Moilien family farm near Coon Valley. Pauline was a very busy farm wife, mother, caregiver to family, and member of the community.

She was a dedicated member of the Coon Valley Lutheran Church, where she participated in WELCA, North Ridge Circle, Prayer Shawl Ministry, and the Funeral Serving Committee. She as an active member of several groups through the years such as North Ridge Homemakers, Norskedalen, and Bethel Butikk to name a few.

Pauline will be remembered for her generosity, lively spirit, and gracious way of engaging people. She brought joy to all who knew her and cared more for others than herself. She enjoyed cooking, baking, entertaining visitors, hosting picnics, and regular gatherings for family and friends. An avid reader and knitter, she enjoyed attending knitting sessions at the Coon Valley Library with her friends.

Pauline is survived by her children, Marc (Anna) Moilien and Kristy Moilien. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Hudson of Florida, her sister-in-law, Mary Allness Philipps of Dodgeville along with many cherished cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Howard; her brother, Fred; her brother and sisters-in-laws Clarence (Jan) Moilien and Carol (Archie) Rundhaugen.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone at Vernon Manor for her care and to all of her friends and family for thoughts, prayers, phone calls, cards and visits.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday October 11, 2025 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Ben Morris will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
