Olene S. Olson

Olene Sharon (Emilson) Olson passed away at home on Monday, August 11, 2025. Olene was born on July 11, 1933, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Oliver and Dorthy (Brzazowske) Emilson. She grew up in Chaseburg, WI where she was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Olene attended Westby High School and proudly graduated with the Class of 1951.

Olene and Curtis R. Olson were married on May 7, 1954, at the Little Brown Church near Nashua, Iowa.

Family and friends will always remember Olene for her fabulous cooking and baking. Especially her Christmas cookies and candy. Olene worked at the Company Store until retiring. Over the years, Olene cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments and milestones and encouraging them with love and support. Her passion for sports was unmatched and she never missed a chance to cheer on her favorite teams including the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, and Wisconsin Badgers. She found joy in giving back to her community and volunteering for various activities as a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in La Crosse. Among the many blessings in her life was her beloved canine friend, Charlie. More than a pet, Charlie was her constant companion and always by her side. Olene was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Olene is survived by Debra Berg of La Crosse; Gregory (Nancy) Olson of West Salem, and Mark (Joanne) Olson of West Salem. Grandchildren Michael Olson, Ashley (Ben) Guldan, Alexis (Curtis) Stypula, Taylor Olson, and Kendall Olson. Great Grandson, Vander Stypula. Bonus grandchildren Angelo and Ella. She is survived by many other family members, specials cousins, and friends.

Olene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Curtis, who passed on January 14, 2009, and her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2135 Weston St, La Crosse with Rev. Mark Bartusch officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time. Entombment following at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum, Mormon Coulee Memorial Park. The Seland Funeral Home is assisting the family.
