Mervin D. Wilson

August 11, 1934 — October 12, 2018

Mervin D. Wilson, 84, of rural Stoddard went peacefully to his Heavenly home on October 12, 2018. at his home.

Mervin grew up on his family farm and went to school in La Farge and Viroqua. He loved hunting and fishing which helped supply his family with his great luck and proficiency. Mervin had a great sense of humor and a special smile when he thought it necessary. He started dating his wife, Ardyce (Dahlke) in 1953. They were married 3 years later on October 27, 1956 at St. Peter’s Lutheran at Hamburg. Together they had 2 daughters; Cheryl (John) Turner, Cyndi Jacobson (Curt Arenz), 5 grandchildren; Channon (Keith) Kennedy, Jonathon Jacobson, Christina Jacobson, Jennifer Turner and her husband; Ben Smithart, Michael Turner, 2 great grand-daughters;  Emma & Sophie Kennedy, 2 bonus grandchildren; Jacob Arenz (Ericka Grimsled), Ashlee (Josh) Gray along with her children. Mervin grew up with 7 siblings; Phyllis (Roy) Hartley, Faith (Lester) Hartley, Lillian (Harold) Hanson, Roger (Arlyene) Wilson, Shirley (Art) Bolstad, Pat (Shirley) Wilson, Judy (Roger) Wemmer all who passed away before him. Also preceding him in death were his parents; Bert and Tressie (Campbell) Wilson, infant brother; Harold Eugene, and brother-in-law; Richard Everson. He is survived by his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his great-aunt; Geneva Wilson, brother-in-law; Roger Wemmer, and many nieces and nephews with whom he enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and teasing. He worked at Trane Co. right out of high school and retired 42 years later. He continued his passion of hunting and fishing as long as he was able but continued to dream about his new adventures. He will be sadly missed by us all and we will never forget the twinkle in his eye or his loud renditions of Jingle Bells and the Kool-aid song on hot summer days with the windows open.
