Merton "Pat" R. Wilson

Merton "Pat" R. Wilson, 76, of Chaseburg, died Wednesday June 11, 2014 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. He was born May 23, 1938 to Birtus and Tressie (Campbell) Wilson in rural LaFarge. Pat married Shirley Ostreng on December 28, 1957 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. From 1957 to 1959, Pat served in the US Army at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He was employed at Caterpillar in Aurora, Illinois from 1964 to 1994. Following retirement, the couple moved to Chaseburg where he was a member of the Chaseburg American Legion Post #202, the Friends of Chaseburg and the Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and collecting beer cans and coins.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; 4 sons, Peter (Judy) of La Crosse, William (Sally), Gary (Devonia) and Gregory all of Chaseburg; 12 grandchildren Brandon, Crystal, Shawn, Cory, Mitch (Christa), Jess, Jared, Tyler, Alexis, McKenzie, Ryan and Joshua; 3 great grandchildren, Nova, Rayne and Temperance; one sister Shirley Bolstad of Viroqua; one brother Mervin (Ardyce) Wilson of Stoddard and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters, Phyllis Hartley, Faith Hartley, Lillian Hanson and Judy Wemmer and 2 brothers Roger and Harold Eugene Wilson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday June 16, 2014 at the Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church, rural Stoddard. Rev. Donald Fox will officiate with military honors by the Chaseburg American Legion Post #202. Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time.
