Margaret L. Seidel

Margaret L. Seidel, 80, of rural Viroqua, died Friday July 29, 2011 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born August 12, 1930 to Edward and Mabel (Gilbertson) Mitchel in La Crosse. Margaret was baptized, confirmed and married at the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage to Wendelin Seidel on September 29, 1951. Together they farmed his home farm before moving to the current farm where they lived the rest of their lives. Margaret enjoyed baking, gardening, her flowers and cats, family cookouts and visiting with family and friends over coffee and cookies. She dearly loved her large family and time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Margaret was a lifetime member of the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church and WELCA.

Survivors include her 10 children Allen (Lucinda) of Richland Center, Raymond (friend Lisa) of Viroqua, Kathy Peterson of Viroqua, Douglas (Patty) of Holmen, Cheryl (Mike) Rumppe of Sparta, Steven (Heather) of Viroqua, Marilyn Seidel (friend Mike) of Soldiers Grove, Marion (Nick) Ligtenberg of Viroqua, Mark of Westby and Brian of Viroqua; 15 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 2 step great grandchildren; 2 brothers David Mitchel of Madison and Richard Mitchel of Chaseburg; a sister-in-law Arlene Jacobson of New Albin, Iowa; a brother-in-law Franklin (Lois) Seidel of Chaseburg and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wendelin on April 29, 2009; a sister Dorothy Haag; a great granddaughter Maria Dank and a son-in-law Michael Peterson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday August 4, 2011 at the Middle Coon Valley Lutheran Church, rural Chaseburg. Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time.
