Lorraine J. Johnson, 83 of Westby, died Monday, January 28, 2013 at Vernon Manor, Viroqua. She was born July 28, 1929, to Joselyn and Hazel (Bjornstad) Bjornstad in Westby. She graduated with honors from Westby High School in 1947. On March 19, 1949 she married Harold Johnson at Westby Coon Prairie Church in Westby. They farmed on South Ridge, rural Coon Valley most of their married life, where she enjoyed making meals for all the hired help (especially tobacco helpers). She was wonderful mother and homemaker, great cook, a member of the South Ridge Circle, attended Coon Valley Lutheran Church, and volunteered at Norseland Nursing Home. She took a lot of pride in mowing her lawn and nurturing her flowers. She loved going dancing with friends at the Concordia Dance Hall and any place with a good polka band.

She is survived by her husband Harold of 63 years, Cheryl (Ruben) Burmester of Rochester, MN, Rodney (Nancy) Johnson of Westby, Darrel Johnson of Cashton, Laurie (Gary) Mickelson of Westby, 8 grandchildren, Brian (Teresa) Burmester, Rhonda (Chris) Ackerly, Jessica Burmester, Stephanie (Jason) Berklund, Jason (Cary) Johnson, Travis (Tanya) Johnson, Jayme (Kylie) Berger and Nicolas Berger, 17 great-grandchildren, in-laws Bonnie Bjornstad, LeRoy Danielson, Leo (Sharon) Johnson, countless nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer, parents, Joselyn and Hazel Bjornstad, brother, DuWayne, in-laws, Ralph and Hulda Johnson, Duane and Evelyn Mashak, Myra Danielson, and Orin and Pauline Johnson.

Funeral services will be Thursday January 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Seland Funeral Home, Coon Valley, from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and 10 until time of service on Thursday at the church.
