Leonard A. Jorgenson

Leonard A. Jorgenson, 89, of Coon Valley died Saturday September 17, 2011 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. He was born March 19, 1922 in Coon Valley to Melvin and Johanne (Haugen) Jorgenson. Leonard was baptized, confirmed and a life long member at Coon Valley Lutheran Church. He attended school in Coon Valley. Leonard served in the U.S. Navy from September 30, 1942 to February 17, 1946 in the Pacific Theatre of World War II. On May 27, 1950 he married Bergetta Johnson in Coon Valley. Leonard worked at Norplex/Allied Signal for over 40 years. He was a member of the Coon Valley American Legion Post #116. Leonard enjoyed collecting arrowheads and stamps and searching with his metal detector.

Survivors include his wife Bergetta; 3 sons Roderick (Connie) of Madison, Scott of rural Westby and Steven (Sandy) of rural Chaseburg; 3 grandchildren Lucas and Cody Jorgenson of Madison and Sara Moser of La Crosse; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Milton "Tony" (Ruth) Jorgenson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday September 21, 2011 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Coon Valley American Legion Post #116. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time.
