Lawrence (Larry) Erickson

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Chub on April 5, 2018, he was 73 years old. Lawrence (Larry) “Chub” was born on December 12, 1944 and raised in Coon Valley, WI. He was the first of two sons to Andrew and Delaine Erickson. During his youth, Chub was very ambitious, starting out his extensive work career as a Paper Boy. Chub attended Westby High School, where he participated in many activities and was recognized as an All-State Center in Football, and graduated in 1963. Upon graduation, Chub started his professional career at TruGas, which then led him to drive truck for Gateway/Fleming, Hot Line, and most recently retiring from Meals on Wheels only weeks ago. Through all of his careers Chub made many lifelong friends and will be greatly missed by all. Chub married Beverly Jasperson on August 21, 1965 and they had two sons, Jon and Brad, whom he was extremely proud of. He then married Frances Emmons, who he later divorced. Through this marriage he gained a stepson, Ryan. Chub enjoyed watching and attending all sports, especially when family was involved. His greatest joy was spending time with friends and family and he had the natural ability to always put a smile on everyone’s face.

Chub is survived by his mother, Delaine; brother, Gary; children, Jon (Jane) Erickson, Brad (Heather) Erickson; stepson, Ryan Emmons; 10 grandchildren, Hans, Tessa, Emma, Owen, Morgan, Ava, Nora, William, Alli, and Olivia. Special friends Bob and Janet Roh and Ritch Ristow; his adopted rescue dog, Holly.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Andrew Erickson and nephew Steve Erickson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday April 11, 2018 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church with a visitation from noon until service time. Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. A celebration of life will also be held at the Freight House Restaurant in La Crosse starting at 4 p.m.
