Laura A. Krause

Laura A. Krause, 95, of rural Coon Valley died Friday evening November 4, 2011 on her farm surrounded by her family. She was born November 2, 1916 to William and Elsie (Martin) Schultz. She married Lester Krause on June 9, 1942 at St. Peter's Hamburg Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Chaseburg. The couple farmed their married life on the Krause home farm, rural Coon Valley. She was a lifetime member of St. Peter's Hamburg Church and Ladies Aid, a 4-H leader for many years and a member of the Brinkman Ridge Homemakers for over 50 years. Laura treasured spending time with her family and enjoyed flowers, gardening and mowing her lawn.

Survivors include her daughter Shirley Krause of La Crosse; two sons Donald (Joyce) Krause of The Villages, Florida and Gordon Krause of La Crosse; 10 grandchildren Julie (Tom) Hollenbeck of Denver, Colorado, Jody (Thor) Markula of Winter Park, Colorado, Shannon (Jason) Krautkramer, Kimberly (Donovan) Zielke, Brent Krause, Nicholas "Nick" Krause, and Tami (Seth) Nururdin all of La Crosse, Heather Krause of Duluth, Minn., Jordan Demoran and Cassidy Yates both of La Crosse; 6 great grandchildren Destiny, O'Maryo, Lillianna, Gannon, Ethan and Peyton and one brother Edwin Schultz of Trempealeau.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on December 6, 1994, her daughter Beverly on October 11, 2011, a brother Elmer and 2 great grandsons Jason and Andrew Krautkramer.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday November 7, 2011 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Rev. Steven Oldre will officiate with burial in the Hamburg Church Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to St. Peter's Hamburg Lutheran Church, Luther High School or the Diabetes Association.
