Larry G. Stuempges, 82, of Coon Valley, died Wednesday November 19, 2014 at the Bethel Home in Viroqua. He was born April 6, 1932 in Polar, Wisconsin to Adolph and Mabel (Parsons) Stuempges. On February 28, 1953, he married the love of his life, Nancy Ringstad in Coon Valley. Larry was raised on a farm outside of Coon Valley. He had to drop out of school his junior year to run the family farm when his father was diagnosed with polio. As a young man he raised tobacco and worked at the Coon Valley Creamery. In 1964, Larry started working at Norplex in La Crosse. He worked there for 30 years before retiring in 1994. Larry was a master woodworker. He could repair damaged antique furniture to its original state. He loved deer hunting, fishing and playing cards. Larry was a past president of the Coon Valley Conservation Club and past president serving on the council of the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Family, friends, and religion were the most important things in Larry's life.

Larry is survived by his wife Nancy, of Coon Valley; two sons, Brian (Kathy) of La Crosse and Bruce (Patty) of Coon Valley; three grandchildren, Ryan Stuempges, Jason Stuempges and Kory Stuempges; three great grandchildren, Maddex, Parker and Aubriana. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Erma and a stillborn twin brother.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday November 22, 2014 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
