Kenneth S. McClurg, 82 of Coon Valley, died peacefully at home Sunday August 10, 2025. He was born May 29, 1943 in Viroqua to Blair and Eunice (Egeness) McClurg. Ken graduated from Viroqua High School in 1961 and received his B.A. and M.A. in counseling from Viterbo University. He used his education to facilitate counseling groups for other Vietnam veterans. Ken was a Vietnam veteran in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1969. He then served in the Wisconsin National Guard units: 107th Maintenance Company (Viroqua) and 1/128th Infantry Regiment (Arcadia).
He was an avid reader and enjoyed woodworking, custom car building, home remodeling and motorcycle touring. He was a long-time member and former Area Director of Concours Owners Group.
Survivors include his wife, Karon Althaus, whom he married on May 28, 2016; children, Danny McClurg (Seda), Michele Gibson, Ashley McClurg, Chrisler McClurg, Steve Sherry (Kathy), Linda Mabb (Mitch), Bernadette Valenzuela, Bridget (Gordon) Kielas-Fecyk, Becky King (Damon); former spouse Helen (Sherry) McClurg; siblings, Nancy Bongers (John Solverson), David (Susan Koppa-McClurg) McClurg; paternal aunts, Mayonne and Faye McClurg and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, spouse Della (Phillips) McClurg; brother, James in infancy and daughter, Bonnie Kielas.
A visitation will be held Friday August 22, 2025 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley. A prayer service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Funeral honors will follow at 3:30 at the Coon Valley Legion Hall. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday August 23 beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the family home at 800 Central Avenue in Coon Valley. A memorial motorcycle ride will be arriving about 1:30. Riders wishing to join the memorial ride can meet at the Liberty Bar at noon. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com. Special thanks to the Mayo Hospice team for their compassionate care.
