JoAnne "Joie" K. Olson

JoAnne "Joie" K. Olson, 50, of La Crosse and formerly of Westby, passed away suddenly Wednesday June 23, 2010 at her home. She was born August 18, 1959 to Alden and Beatrice (Stakston) Olson in Viroqua. She was baptized and confirmed at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. JoAnne graduated from Westby High School in 1977 as salutatorian and from UW-La Crosse in 1982 with a degree in Mass Communications. Photography was her passion and she worked both as an aerial and studio photographer. She lived in Milwaukee for many years where she managed a health club. JoAnne was an excellent cook and enjoyed fishing, hunting and being on the farm. She loved spending time with her family especially her nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her parents Alden and Beatrice Olson of rural Westby; 3 brothers Bruce (Lisa) and their family of Coon Valley, Brian (Sara) and their family of Chaseburg and Jon (Teresa) and their family of Westby; 1 sister Diane (Tim) Seland and their family of Westby; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; her dear sister Debbie; an uncle Allan Stakston and an aunt Ordella Olson.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday June 27, 2010 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Sunday from 3 p.m. until service time. Memorials are preferred to the church or charity of your choice.
