Jean P. Penkalski

Jean P. Penkalski, 84, of Stoddard passed away Tuesday March 18, 2014 at the home of her son and daughter in law Dean and Julie following a battle with cancer. She was born in Milwaukee to Arthur and Rachel Golding. Jean married Melvin Penkalski on June 19, 1946 in Oak Park, IL. The couple lived in Milwaukee where they operated a grocery store for several years. In 1971 they moved to Stoddard where they owned and operated the Frog Point Tavern. Jean enjoyed going to "the boat" with her friends and spending time with family.

Survivors include 5 children, Linda (James) Benka of Georgia, Kenneth (Susan) of Elkhorn, Kathleen (Bruce) Ulbrich of Amherst, Sandra Penkalski of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Dean (Julie) of Stoddard; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a sister JoAnn (Frank) Stemwell of Milwaukee and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Melvin in 2006; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday March 23, 2014 at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley. Rev. Donald Fox will officiate with burial in the Stoddard Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 to 7 pm at the funeral home.
