Jacob M. Ward

Jacob M. Ward, 27, of Milwaukee and formerly of Coon Valley passed away unexpectedly on September 4, 2013 at his home in Milwaukee. He was born June 22, 1986 to John and Lorraine (Morgan) Ward in La Crosse and grew up in Coon Valley before joining the military. Jacob was a combat veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2004 and 2005 as a scout for the Cavalry. He enjoyed snowboarding, skate boarding, biking, fishing, morel mushroom hunting, his family and friends and would help anyone at any time.

Jacob was a volunteer at the Dry Hootch veteran's coffee shop in Milwaukee and he also helped apartment managers with landscaping and handyman duties. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his parents, John and Lorraine Ward of Coon Valley, his sister Elizabeth Ward of Minneapolis, Minn., his paternal grandmother Helen Burton of La Crosse and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Paul and Irene Morgan of Cedar Falls, Iowa and his paternal grandfather John A. Ward of Viroqua.

A time of remembrance for family and friends will be held from 2-4 pm Sunday September 15, 2013 at Nell's City Grill at 1111 S. 3rd Street in La Crosse. Services in Milwaukee were held Wednesday. Rest in Peace, Jacob - Mom, Dad and Elizabeth.
