Hazel O. Rudie

Hazel O. Rudie, 88 of Westby, passed away Friday September 10, 2010 at Norseland Nursing Home in Westby. She was born January 1, 1922 to Oscar and Hannah (Gronvold) Ihle in Coon Township, Vernon County. She was baptized, confirmed and a life long member at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church where she was active in WELCA and the South Ridge Circle. Hazel married Edwin Rudie on September 22, 1945 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Parsonage by Rev. H.O. Bach. The couple farmed in the town of Coon their entire married life and had three sons, Ronald, Terry and Jerome. Hazel worked as a cook at the Coon Valley Sales Barn for many years. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making the best donuts and rosettes around.

Survivors include her son Jerome; a daughter-in-law Pamela (Jim) Padesky; 5 grandchildren Todd Rudie, Chad (Sara) Rudie, Nikki (Derek) Grabowski, Cory and Tyler Rudie; 4 great grandchildren; one sister Alice Nerison; 2 brothers Oswald (Annette) Ihle and Verlin (Jan) Ihle; one brother-in-law Merlin (Lorraine) Rudie and 2 sisters-in-law Olive Rudie and Eunice Albrecht and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Edwin in 2000; her sons Ronald in 1974 and Terry in 2007; a daughter-in-law Betty in 2008; her sister Gladys Stendahl in 2004 and 2 brothers-in-law Noble Stendahl and Irvin Nerison.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday September 16, 2010 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be given to the Coon Valley Lutheran Church or Norseland Nursing Home. In lieu of sending thank you's, a gift will be given to the Bethel Butikk.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Norseland Nursing Home for giving Hazel such wonderful care.
