Harold E. Role

God saw that he was tired and while doing what he loved to do, sitting out back at home on the porch in the sun waiting for the grass to dry, Harold E. Role passed away on April 24th in Coon Valley.  He was born to Herman and Elsie (Johnson) Role on September 18th 1935.  He married Janice Clement on September 21st 1957 and celebrated 61 years of marriage.  Together they raised 3 children: Vicki (Chad) Midtlien, Alan, and Lynn (Cory) Brye.  He is survived by his 9 grandchildren:  Travis (Tanya), Alex, Abby (Alex), Quintessa, Catrina (Kylen), Felicia (Cesar), Melissa, Eric and Ryder; and his 9 great grandchildren: Tayah, Teegun, Tanner, Tobie, Kaylee, Tanner, Quentin, Jaidyn and Ayden. He is also further survived by other family and friends. He grew up on a farm in rural Coon Valley on South Ridge where he spent many years gardening and teaching his grandkids how to hunt deer and turkey. Many years were spent up North near Hayward vacationing with family and close friends along with many years of boating on the Mississippi River with family and friends on #9, camping in Stoddard, hunting and fishing with friends in Bayfield County, Canada, Montana and Colorado.  Before retirement, he volunteered for many years for the Coon Valley Volunteer Fire Department.  After he retired from Norplex and the Village of Coon Valley he spent over 20 years as a snow bird in Florida with his wife, Janice on Lake Josephine.  He was able to garden year round and grew potatoes that made the best Lefse.  He was an avid Brewer and Packer Fan, but found his greatest joy watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they participated in all of their activities as he watched them grow through the years.  He loved to sit on his porch watching the birds with a cold can of Blatz.  Uffda, we will miss him dearly.

A memorial service will be held on Friday May 3, 2019 at 1 p.m. at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:30 to 7 pm at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Friday from noon until service time.  Celebration of Life to follow at Stockyard in Coon Valley.
