Grace L. Bryhn, 96, of Stoddard, died Friday October 29, 2010 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse. She was born May 2, 1914 to Otto and Hannah (Rick) Schlicht in Harmony Township, Vernon County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. On May 23, 1936 she married Milford Bryhn at the St. Peter's Lutheran Parsonage by Rev. E.H. Palechek. The couple lived in Viroqua before moving to the Bryhn home farm in Bergen Township where they farmed until retiring to Stoddard in 1966. After Milford died January 10, 1981, Grace moved to Valley Apartments in Stoddard and lived there until entering Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in May 2008.

Grace was an active member of the Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church and WELCA where she served in many areas. She also volunteered at Sugar Creek Bible Camp and Norskedalen. Grace traveled to many places throughout the country including memorable trips to Europe and Norway. She enjoyed painting, rosemaling, hardunger, baking and camping.

Survivors include one daughter Sonja Moe of La Crosse, one son Loren (Gloria) Bryhn of Eau Claire; 3 grandchildren Rhonda (Robert McGraff) Bryhn of La Crosse, Eric (Melissa) Bryhn of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Christine (Moe) Wooden of Onalaska; 7 great grandchildren Caleb Wooden, Madeline, Collin and Kaitlin Bryhn, Sophia and Christopher McGraff and Hannah Gerrish and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson Andrew McGraff in infancy; her son-in-law Dennis Moe; one brother Raymond Schlicht and one sister Hildegard Kolden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday November 1, 2010 at the Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Pastor Donald Fox will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time. Memorials are preferred to Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church, Sugar Creek Bible Camp or Norskedalen.
