Gerald E. Schultz

Gerald E. Schultz, 84, of Chaseburg, passed away Monday July 14, 2014 at Gundersen Medical Center in LaCrosse with family at his side. He was born February 2, 1930 in Chaseburg to Paul and Sadie (Hagen) Schultz Sr. Gerald married Marilyn Hanson on November 3, 1951 at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Viroqua. The couple farmed their entire life at rural Chaseburg. Gerald was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Coon Valley Lions, a founding member of the Wild Turkey Federation, Ducks Unlimited and was a recipient of two Vernon County Wildlife Conservation Awards. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball games, playing cards, and most of all spending time with his family.

Survivors include his 6 children; Steven (Sandy) Schultz of Appleton, Kathleen Schultz of La Crosse, Robert (Sherry) Schultz of Chaseburg, Jeffrey (Lauri) Schultz of Coon Valley, Susan (Brian) Mashak and Peggy (Torkel) Leum both of Westby; 14 grandchildren, Andrea Schultz, Jessica Leigh (Blake) Kasberger, Jessica Ann Schultz, Travis (Mandy), Ryan (friend Gaby), Quinn and Clare Schultz, Josh (Sammi), Briena, Brooke, Brittani Schultz, Justin (Amy) Mashak, Jenny (Todd) Nottestad and Erik Mashak; 10 great grandchildren; a brother Paul Schultz, Jr., a sister Corrine Kapanke, sister-in-law Shirley Dach and brother-in-law Martin Hanson and many nieces, nephews and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn; brother, Alvin Schultz; sisters-in-law Connie and Beatrice Schultz, Helen Brown and Lillian in infancy; and a brother-in-law Fred Dach.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday July 19, 2014 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Rev. Steven Oldre will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
