Gerald "Curly" A. Reschke

Gerald “Curly” Alston Reschke, aged 70, passed away peacefully at his home on October 7, 2026 surrounded by his family. Curly was born on February 4, 1956 to Donald and Lauretta (Burkum) Reschke and he grew up on their family farm in Chaseburg.

Curly later purchased the farm and remained a farmer for most of his life. After 62 years, he sold his cows and drove semi-truck for Korth/Organic Valley. However, if you asked Curly, he would tell you he was still trying to figure out what he wanted to be when he grew up. He never sat still, he was always outside working on something, in the barn, in a tractor or riding his UTV with his dog, Chunk. Other than farming, some of his favorite things to do were going fishing or taking a quick hunting trip to South Dakota. Curly loved his family and took so much pride in all of his grandchildren. He was very well known around the community and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was known by a few as the nicest man in Vernon County (and maybe even the state).

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Deb; his daughters, Crystal Reschke, Ashley Reschke, and Laura (Robbie) Jacobson; his grandchildren, Logan, Zander, Eli, Judah, William, Payslie, Lillie, and Oakley. He is further survived by his honorary son Abe, his siblings; LaVonne, David (Jane), Harland (Bev), Paul (Gail), Randy, Arlen, Arlene (Tom) & John (Wanda); sister-in-law, Ann & brother-in-law, Gary, along with many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Duane & Roland, his sisters Carol & Joan, his dear friend Jonathan Hoff, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday October 14, 2026 at the Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church, rural Stoddard. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time.
