Gale R. Warner

Gale R. Warner, 87 formerly of Viroqua and Stoddard, died Friday July 10, 2026 at Riverside Transitional Care in La Crosse. He was born May 31, 1939 in La Crosse to Glen and Aneta (Schaldach) Warner. He graduated from Viroqua High School in 1957. He married Judith Stemper on July 18, 1964. Gale worked as a machinist for Woodward Governor Company in Ft. Collins, Co for 28 years, which he very much enjoyed. He grew up near Viroqua and later lived in Waukesha, WI, Ft. Collins, CO and later in Stoddard, WI.

Gale enjoyed playing sports with his boys, camping, spending time outdoors, football and baseball, men’s league softball, horseshoes, golf (he made his own clubs), fishing and baking banana bread.

Survivors include his son Brian (Kristin) Warner; grandchildren, Cade, Regan, Brilee and Asher; nephews, Larry (Karen) Carrillo, Vern (Bonnie) Carrillo, Lonnie (Lois) Carrillo, nieces Gwen Warner, Linda (Paul) Woelper and Lori Carrillo; and a sister-in-law, Joyce Webber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Judith; two sons, Steven and Gregory Warner; siblings, Jean Carrillo, Glen “Junior” Warner and Stuart Warner.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday August 7, 2026 at the Huxley Cemetery in Newton Valley. The Seland Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
