Eva E. Gullord

Eva E. Gullord, 91, of La Crosse, died Thursday January 7, 2010 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born April 4, 1918 to Joseph and Clara (Strangstalien) Johnson in Coon Township, Vernon County.


She was baptized and confirmed at Vang Lutheran Church, rural Westby. Eva married Clinton Gullord on April 4, 1938 at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Parsonage in Westby by Rev. Holum. The couple farmed the Gullord home farm at rural Coon Valley before moving to La Crosse in 1963. Eva worked at Montgomery Ward and then at Bethany Riverside both in La Crosse for several years retiring in 1985. She was a long time member of the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Eva enjoyed doll collecting and antiques.

Survivors include her husband Clinton; one daughter Emogene Seiter of La Crosse; one son Carlan Gullord of Anoka, Minnesota; one granddaughter, Lizann Walker of Madison; five grandsons, Layne (Diane) Walker of La Crosse, Robert (Kate) Seiter of Park Ridge, Illinois, Jay Seiter of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kennan Gullord of Anoka, Minnesota and Carliss (Jenny) Gullord of Motley, Minnesota; 9 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren; one brother Thelmer Johnson of Coon Valley and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter Janalee Sackett; two sisters Josephine Jacobson and Judith Gilbertson; three brothers Jimmy, Lloyd and Argyle Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday January 11, 2010 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
