Elaine M. Nelson

Elaine M. Nelson, 14, of Coon Valley, died unexpectedly Tuesday evening July 19, 2011 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. Elaine had battled a heart condition her entire life. She was born January 28, 1997 to Kathy Nelson in Viroqua. She was baptized and confirmed at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church and had perfect attendance at Sunday school for 8 years. Elaine graduated from 8th grade in May at Westby Middle School and was looking forward to high school.

Elaine loved all people and adored all animals. She loved to spend time with her friends, her cats and anytime she could with her mom - her best friend. She also loved spending time in her pool, riding her bike and spending time with "G & G" - grandma and grandpa. Elaine always enjoyed when her cousins came to visit or had her friends spend the night.

Survivors include her mom Kathy (fiancAC. Tim Kroes) of Coon Valley; an uncle Ricky Nelson and his children Michelle, Courtney, Elizabeth and Kristy of Coon Valley; 2 aunts Lori (Mark) Manske and their children Nick and Ashley of Stoddard and Cindy (Adam) Gartner and their children Ethan, Kaden and Makenna of Coon Valley; her grandparents Monte and LuEtta Nelson of Coon Valley; 3 special cats Petie, Scarlet and Holly; many very special friends, dear cousins and other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday July 23, 2011 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Mitzi Miyamoto will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
