Edna L. Lietke

February 22, 1918 — November 3, 2011

Edna L. Lietke, 93, of La Crosse and formerly of Chaseburg, passed away Thursday November 3, 2011 at Bethany Riverside in La Crosse from breast cancer. She was born February 22, 1918 in Harmon Township, Vernon County to Matt and Clara (Lenser) Johnson. Edna was baptized, confirmed and a life long member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. She attended Clausen School. Edna married Herbert "Herb" Lietke on April 25, 1942 at St. Peter's Church Parsonage by Pastor Backer. The couple farmed at rural Chaseburg for many years before moving to La Crosse in 1994. Herb died February 5, 2008.

Survivors include 2 grandsons Douglas (Jacquelyn) Lietke and their children Brenna and Ciarra of La Crosse and Michael (Carol) Lietke and their children George and Andrew of New Berlin; her daughter-in-law Sharon Lietke of La Crosse and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Duane in 1999 and a brother Alvin Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday November 9, 2011 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Rev. Steven Oldre will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until service time. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family.
