Edith E. Brown

Edith E. Brown, 94, of La Crosse died Friday January 27, 2012 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse. She was born November 15, 1917 in La Crosse to August and Edith Woldt. She married Norman Brown on March 13, 1944. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2003.

Edith had a long career in retail at the E.R. Barron Co. and Herberger's where she was in a management position until retirement. She was a life long member of Wesley United Methodist Church in La Crosse where she participated in many church activities including teaching Sunday School. She was known for her needlework and baking talents. Edith's kindness and compassion for others will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include cousins, Mary Jane Bates, Wayne Bates, Jane Metz and Paula Dahms all of Kansas; Randal Bates of Roseville, Minn., James Pilger, Steven Pilger, Jeffrey Pilger and Lisa Dye all of Washington state and many special caring friends who will miss her deeply.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday February 2, 2012 at the Asbury United Methodist Church in La Crosse with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family.
