Dorothy R. Seivertson

b. December 3, 1928

Dorothy "Dottie" R. Seivertson, 85, passed away at her home at Hillview Terrace in La Crosse surrounded by her loving family, as well as Hillview Terrace staff, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 3, 1928, to Arthur and Mabel (Lindevig) Strangstalien in the Town of Coon, Vernon County, Wisconsin. Dorothy was baptized, confirmed and married at the Vang Lutheran Church where she was a member. On July 3, 1950, she married Glenn Seivertson. The couple lived in Illinois for many years, where she worked for 24 years at Ipsen Ceramics in Rockford.


Survivors include her sisters, Lucille Ostrem, Arlene (John) Townsend and Gloria (Floyd) Storey; her brothers Roger (Donna), Dr. Dennis (Suzanne) and Larry (Rachel) Strangstalien; one sister-in-law, Marie Strangstalien; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, including her two god-children Randy Strangstalien and Kristin Strangstalien.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn in 1997; an infant son Gary Allan on April 4, 1951; her parents; three brothers, Gordon, Verlyn, and Bobby; one sister Beverly Jensen; one sister-in-law LuEtta Strangstalien, and two brothers-in-law, Donnie Jensen and La Verne Ostrem; a nephew Danny Strangstalien and a great niece and nephew Ainsley and Porter Hall.

Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and "Auntie" who will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday April 2, 2014 at the Vang Lutheran Church, rural Westby. Rev. Julie Wollman will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family.
