Doris E. Martine

Doris E. Martine, 77, of La Crosse and formerly of Chaseburg, passed away Sunday at home with her family by her side. Doris was born September 4, 1935 in La Crosse to Elmer and Mary Emma (Hueston) Woods. She married Gene A. Martine on November 20, 1953 in La Crosse. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1984. Doris worked at Inland Printing from 1985 to 2000 and also bartended in Chaseburg for many years. In her earlier years she enjoyed tap dancing. She loved to play euchre with her friends from Chaseburg, going to the houseboat, playing dice and card games and playing Words with Friends on her I-pad. Doris enjoyed her weekly trips to see Sonny, trying different recipes, baking desserts and spending time with her grandchildren and was a loyal Packer fan. Doris was also a 20 year cancer survivor.

Survivors include 3 children, Blaine (Lori) of Westby, Kathy (Duane) Roesler of La Crosse and Mike (Julie) of Chaseburg; 7 grandchildren Kassie Martine Patchak, Kelly Martine True, Ashley Tryggestad, C.J. and Nickolas Roesler; Hayden and Elise Martine; 2 sisters Jean Lee, Marjorie (Ray) Lubben of LaCrosse; a brother Bill (Judy) of Atwater, Calif.; and a special brother-in-law Floyd "Bud" Sheely. She was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 4 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday October 25, 2012 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Rev. Steven Oldre will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time.
