Darlene E. Larson

Listen to Obituary

Darlene Elaine Larson, 85, of Chaseburg, died Sunday Feb 1, 2026 at her present home at Creamery Creek Senior Living in Stoddard. She was born Nov 10 (because she always said she was a “perfect” 10) 1940 to Morgan and Hazel (Dingeldein) Nagle at home in La Crosse.

Darlene graduated from Central High School in La Crosse in 1958. She met the true love of her life, Wesley Larson, at the roller-skating rink (where she said “Wes fell for her…. literally). She married Wes on April 9, 1960 at the Bible Baptist Church in La Crosse. They danced the night away at the Avalon in La Crosse, which was the beginning of their lifelong love for music and dancing. Darlene worked the majority of her adult life at The Company Store as a seamstress, but her true passion was always playing with children. Her favorite job ever was her in-home daycare.

One of her very favorite things in life was watching Wes, her kids, and grandkids playing sports, especially softball and baseball. She herself was a shortstop softball player. When not at the ballfield, she enjoyed camping, boating, and snowmobiling with Wes, friends and family. Many of her summer and fall nights were spent around the campfire. Darlene was also a long-time member of the Chaseburg Snowtrailers. Wes and Darlene were often found going for drives together. In short, her very favorite thing to do was anything Wes wanted to do. Where you found one of them you found the other.

Darlene was a lifetime member of Lower Coon Valley Lutheran Church where all her children were baptized and confirmed.

Survivors include her husband of 65 ¾ years Wes, 4 children, Ricky (Sue Wessin) of Chaseburg, Randy (Nancy) of Chaseburg, Lynn (Ed) Kondracki of Onalaska, and Shelly (Pat) Tully of Stoddard; 8 grandchildren, Josh (Sammi) Schultz, Jordan (Zach) Ellis, B.J. She was preceded in death by her parents Morgan & Hazel Nagle, in-laws, Norman & Mable Larson, brother-in-law, Arles Larson, 4 siblings, Nancy Ladwig, Jim Nagle, Barb Larson, and Timmy Nagle, a great nephew Kody Larson, a great granddaughter, Josie Tully, and special friend Connie Burch.
