Cheryl J. Roesler

May 2, 1954 — June 6, 2015

Cheryl J. Roesler, 61, of La Crosse died Saturday, June 6, 2015 in her home. She was born May 2, 1954, in Madison, Wis., to Willard and Leona (Gilman) Kelly.

When you think of strength, courage, and compassion, I hope you think of Cheryl. Cheryl was a true cancer warrior. In 1997 she was diagnosed with and conquered colon cancer. In December of 2013 Cheryl was given the devastating news that cancer was back and this time would lead her to her final resting place. You would never have known how much she was suffering. She always put others first wanting to bring joy to all, which gave her strength.

One of Cheryl's last wishes was for her loved ones to never lose their humor. With her humor, she lifted the spirits of everyone she knew. Her laugh and her smile will resonate from the deepest parts of those who knew her. She is now surrounded by loved ones who passed before her looking upon us saying stop crying, and gamble a little by taking a chance with laughter and life.

Cheryl's last day on earth was spent surrounded by family. She gazed out the window as her grandchildren lit off fireworks in celebration of her life. Before leaving they hugged her and said good bye. Fifteen minutes later she took her last peaceful breath in the arms of her daughter and husband surrounded by her sister in-law Mary Bennett, and niece Lindsay Roesler.

Cheryl is survived by her husband Joseph Roesler of 42 years, daughter Stephanie (Jamie) Greenwold, grandchildren Joseph, Troy and Leana, all of La Crosse and brother Randy Kelly of Chaseburg.

She is reunited with her son Troy, parents Leona and Willard Kelly, brothers Dennis, and Michael Kelly, father in-law Alfred Roesler, mother in-law Mildred Roesler.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday June 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley, with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Coon Valley. Rev. Timothy Welles will officiate with burial in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park
