Charles “Chuck” Wm. Oldenburg of Chaseburg, passed away due to a medical emergency on Saturday, September 2, 2023. He was born on November 18, 1955 to Lawrence and Doris (Proksch) Oldenburg. On August 16, 1997, he was united in marriage to Julie Ann Hartwig at the family farm.
One might say he farmed most of his life, from boyhood to purchasing the farm from his parents and until selling the farm at rural Viroqua in 2004. In 1995 he hosted the Vernon County Dairy Breakfast. After leaving the farm he and Julie owned and operated Charlie’s Fine Food and Spirits in Hayward for 17 years. They moved back to Chaseburg in 2021.
Chuck was a life-long member of the Chaseburg Rod and Gun Club. He served many years on the Board and was very active in the club. He was an avid hunter, fisher and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his wife, Julie, and sons Jason (Samantha) Frame and children Delaney and Baker of Fort Atkinson and Daniel (Samantha) Frame and children Declan and Paisley of Onalaska. Brother Kenneth (Sharon) Oldenburg of Stoddard; sisters Carol Oldenburg of La Crosse and Julie (David) Welch of Viroqua; mother-in-law Harriet Hartwig of Fort Atkinson; and brothers-in-law Tom (Laurie) Hartwig of Florida, David (Glena) Hartwig and John (Theresa) Hartwig of Fort Atkinson. He is further survived by many special nieces, nephews and friends. Chuck touched many peoples lives and will be missed.
He is predeceased by his parents, father-in-law Don Hartwig and nephews Todd and Troy Oldenburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Chaseburg.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday September 7, 2023 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Chaseburg with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time. Rev. Steven Oldre will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
