Calvin R. Rosenau

May 4, 1927 — February 2, 2015

Calvin R. Rosenau, 87, of Sparta went to be with his heavenly Father on Monday February 2, 2015 at the Morrow Memorial Home in Sparta.

He was born to John and Ruby Rosenau on May 4th 1927 in Muscoda Wisconsin. After high school graduation he served in the United States Navy, attended Northwestern Bible College and graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

He married his bride, Marilyn Thoreson on August 9, 1952. They were together for 57 years until her passing in 2009. They raised six children in their home in Stoddard Wisconsin, LeAnn Falk of Tomah, Thomas of LaCrosse, Dean of LaCrescent MN, James of San Francisco CA, Susan Peterson of Lewiston MN, and David of Lewiston MN.

Calvin worked for IBM until his retirement in 1987. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a founding member and active in the leadership of Faith Baptist Church in LaCrosse. Ever hardworking, as evidenced by strong hands, a strong back and the unyielding force of his will he was always busy, with some place to go. This was true even throughout his final days.

He is survived by his six children, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He eagerly anticipated the second coming of Christ, continually awaiting His imminent return. Because of his trust in the loving forgiveness of Christ we celebrate today and "do not grieve as those who have no hope. For... God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with those who have fallen asleep in Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 4:13,14.

A Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday February 9, 2015 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Sparta. Rev. Jeremy Cochran will officiate with burial in the Stoddard Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from noon until service time.
