Barbara J. Oium, 65, of La Crosse, died Wednesday June 29, 2011 at Hillview Health Care Center in La Crosse. She was born November 1, 1945 in La Crosse to Melvin and Olga (Erickson) Running. Barbara was baptized, confirmed and married at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in La Crosse. She married Richard Oium on August 31, 1968. Barbara helped with babysitting and household chores for her brother LeMont (Nancy) and children. She enjoyed cooking and visiting over coffee with family and friends, especially Janet and Edna Rieck and Carol Shiebele. She also enjoyed playing bingo and going to dinner and a movie with her daughter Amanda and spending time with her granddaughter Marissa. Barbara was well loved and will be missed by her daughter, granddaughter, nieces and nephews.

Survivors include her daughter Amanda (Paul) Kuecker and granddaughter Marissa Rose Oium-Kuecker all of La Crosse; a sister-in-law Elverda Olson of Las Vegas, Nevada and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard on January 9, 2007; a sister Grace Becker and a brother LeMont Running.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday July 2, 2011 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crescent. Rev. Chris Christenson will officiate with burial in the Coon Valley Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Online condolences may be offered at selandsfuneralhome.com.
