Arnold J. Bolstad

Arnold J. Bolstad, 88, of Coon Valley died Sunday May 5, 2024. 

Arnold was born July 29, 1935, in Vernon County, WI to Alfred and Ella (Anderson) Bolstad.  He graduated from De Soto High School in 1954.   He married EvaLea F. Snell on June 21, 1958, at Viroqua United Methodist Church.  They were married for 59 years, 8 months, and 6 days as he would say.   Arnold worked 20 years for Trane Company.  They moved for his wife’s job and lived in various states including New Mexico, Kansas, Minnesota, and Arizona before moving back to Wisconsin.  Arnold had various jobs in those states and even cared for his mother-in-law Mildred.  He was always involved in the churches they attended and was on church councils.

Arnold and EvaLea enjoyed camping, traveling, playing board games, cards, bowling, watching baseball and football games.  They were 4-H leaders for many years. Arnold was a volunteer for AJ Food Bank in Arizona.   However, most important was his walk with God.  He always prayed before meals and sat on the edge of his bed and said prayers every night.   

Arnold is survived by children Renita (Ray) Williamson, Laureen Price, Onalaska, Teresa (Lorn) Goede, Viroqua, Lamont (Tammy) Bolstad, Montello, Wendell (Miranda) Bolstad, Mankato MN; 17 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren, and his brother Roger (Betty) Bolstad.   He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and a granddaughter, Alicia Bolstad, and siblings Arletta Schmidt, Norman Bolstad and Richard Bolstad.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday May 11, 2024, at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. Rev. Jim Scaife will officiate with burial in the Stoddard Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until service time. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Condolences may be given at selandsfuneralhome.com.
