Alvina C. Krachel

Alvina C. Krachel, 98, of rural Chaseburg, passed away peacefully Tuesday June 23, 2015 at Bethany St. Joseph Care Center in La Crosse. She was born to Clarence and Alice (Olson) Johnson on December 5, 1916 at Hixton. Her parents moved to Whitehall where she was baptized. They then moved to Westby where she was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church by Rev. Rondestvedt. Alvina graduated from Westby High School and attended the Vernon County Normal School in Viroqua. On October 25, 1945 she married Frederick "Fritz" Krachel at Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church by Rev. Holum. The couple farmed in the Chaseburg area.

Survivors include two nieces, Theresa (Dave) Kasten of Lake Delton and Betty (Randy) Dahlen of Westby; great nieces and nephews, Kory (Ashley) Dahlen of Westby, Karlee (Tom) Wallin of Eau Claire, Kris (Ali) Kasten of Oak Park, Illinois, Todd Kasten of Baraboo and Cody Kasten of Highland, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fritz in 2008; a brother Wallace Johnson, a brother-in-law Arnold Krachel and a sister-in-law Lola Krachel

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday June 26, 2015 at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chaseburg. Rev. Steven Oldre will officiate with burial in the Hamburg Church Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until service time. The Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley is assisting the family. Memorials are preferred to the Hamburg Lutheran Church.
