Alan B. Engh, 68, of rural Chaseburg, died Monday March 14, 2016 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse following a courageous 3 year battle with cancer. He was born January 5, 1948 in Viroqua to Verdell and LaVonne (Olson) Engh. Alan was baptized and confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church in Esofea. He graduated from Westby High School in 1966 and attended UW-River Falls. Alan married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Holte on April 12, 1969 at the Coon Valley Lutheran Church. The couple farmed in the area most of their married life. Alan also worked for a couple years at the Coon Valley Feed Mill. He was a member of the Vang Lutheran Church. Alan enjoyed fishing, playing cards and spending time with family and visiting with friends.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley; 3 children, Craig of rural Chaseburg, Darren (Lisa) of Sparta and Kala (Duane) Berg of Westby; 4 grandchildren, Jacob and Max Engh and Melody and Madeline Berg; 3 sisters, Dana Engh of Coon Valley, Kristie (Gary) Roesler of West Salem and Elizabeth (Steve) Engh of Mayville; 1 brother Peter (Michele) Engh of Westby; 2 aunts Karen (Sonny) Zielke and Jo Engh; an uncle Richard (Audrey) Engh and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday March 19, 2016 at the Westby Coon Prairie Lutheran Church. Rev. Julie Wollman will officiate with burial in the Vang Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Seland Funeral Home in Coon Valley and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time.
