Mary Ann Sedevie (Elsen), 75 of La Crosse and formerly of rural Coon Valley, passed away peacefully to her Heavenly Father on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Brookdale Memory Care.
Mary was raised on her family’s farm in Bangor. She was a graduate of Bangor High School. She was a devout Catholic, and worked in housekeeping at Villa St. Joe, retiring in 2013. Mary married Ray Sedevie in 1989, after being introduced by a mutual friend. She enjoyed farming with him and their special fur baby, Peggy on his family farm in Bohemian Valley and all that it entailed: the animals, yard work, gardening, maintaining their home, feeding her beloved hummingbirds and flowers, sewing, crocheting, cooking and baking. She was always trying out new recipes with delicious results. She loved music, her favorite entertainer being Elvis, and she enjoyed listening to his recordings and would often sing along with her lovely voice. Mary enjoyed the numerous family and friend get-togethers over the years. She had an infectious laughter which would bring smiles to all.
Mary is lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law, Elaine Proksch and her daughters, Bonnie and Sandra and their families, her sister Madonna Bahr’s family, brothers, Peter and Barbara Elsen and family, Tom and Diane Elsen and family, Gary Elsen and family, Gus and Brenda Elsen and family, Doug and Diane Elsen and family and twin sister, Clara Ann Elsen, and her lifetime best friend, Carol Clements.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Sedevie, her sister, Madonna Bahr, her parents, Peter and Leona Elsen, her parents-in-law, Joseph and Albina Sedevie, 3 brothers-in-law, Duwayne Leis, Alfred Bahr and Eugene Proksch and a nephew, Martin Elsen.
The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Brookdale for taking wonderful, compassionate care of Mary these last years, and to the staff at St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful care of her during her final days.
